Old Gilbert Lake Clock

by Patty
(USA)

I recently inherited an old clock that belonged to my grandfather. The label says:

Lake No. and I think it may be a 6
Manufactured by Wm L Gilbert Clock Co.
Winstead, Conn. U.S.A.

I am not trying to sell it, just want to know a little more about it. My grandfather was born in the late 1800's and I was told that he got the clock from either my great-grandfater on his side of the family or maybe my great-grandfather on my grandmother's side of the family. I do believe it to be over 100 years old, and it still works.

It is about 16 to 18 inches tall and has some decorative scroll on it. there is no chips on any part of the wood. The chimes still work, and I still have the key to wind it up. It has a pendulum that is still in very good condition.

I do not have a picture of it at this time, as I cannot get my camera to work. I will try to upload a picture at a later date.
