Horse and Wagon Clock
by: Anonymous

Hello,

I have one just like it; my grandparents bought it and my grandma gave it to me a few years ago. According to my family, the clock is at least from 1962; because they got the clock right around when my father was born. It is at least from the early 1960's.

I came across this clock at a rummage sale. It works well, everything is in tact except for the reigns and whip. Does anyone know where to replace those items?
Thank you

My mom has this clock as well. It was her fathers. Apparently not as rare as I thought it was. Will keep for the fond memories of my Grandparents.

The internet is amazing! We have had this clock in our home since the early 1960's. I think ours has always been missing the whip, so my grandmother put a broom straw in it. My mother recently passed away, and we are clearing the family home. If anyone would like to purchase our covered wagon, please contact us at jmadinger@Kiwanis.org.

These were carnival prizes, so that might tell you a little about their value. They are also referred to as "Schlocks" in the clock world. Totally complete in great working condition, anything between $20 and $100 seems to be the price a lot of sellers are asking on ebay. The Hansom Cab (Buggy with one horse & street light) complete with reins and whip recently went for $73 on ebay at auction. Thats a fair (no pun intended) price considering it was 100% complete. Hope that helps.

I have the same clock and you are correct that it was a carnival prize. Parents use to take their kids to the carnival and let them run while they would all gather at the horse race game. If you remember the little metal horses that came from the carnival. The clocks were the wagon clocks were the Grand Prize. You had to spend more than a hundred dollars to win one.they are from the 50's and early 60's. My mother won the one I have.

If you open the back of the clock, unplug it first, it might be stamped on the inside of the back plate cover.
