Howard Miller grandfather clock

The clock is 26 years old, has not been used in 10. I thought it was over wound,but the repair man said that the movement was probably worn and recommended that it be replaced. He said movements last about 20 years. Not sure if it makes sense to invest in replacing or if I should just try a cleaning.
