How to Stop my wall clock from chiming

I received a grandfather wall clock as an anniversary gift. It says that it is made by the Boston Clock Company. It is a Manor House model #6056. It was purchased at JCPenny store in 2005. I was wondering how to stop the clock from chiming. It wakes in the middle of the night. No censor is visible, nor is there a switch as many clocks have. It has one C cell battery. There are two small wires that come from the compartment were the battery is and go into the chime. If I were to remove these, would I damage the rest of the clock, or stop the movement of the pendulum?
Thank you for your time. You are my last hope!!

Linda

Chimes too noisey
by: Bill

Hi Linda,

If your movement has a separate speaker for the chimes, you can disconnect the wires to it and not affect the clock, itself. But, if the entire mechanism is sealed into one unit, you can not do it without stopping the clock.

Hope this helps.
