What It Is ....

This is a very cool movement. It is from the mid 1970s The Telechron Digi'tel movement is a series of motor driven shutters that open and close to simulate the look of LED and Nixi Tube displays just coming online at this time in very expensive electronic gadgets but far to expensive to put into a $50 clock radio. This clock movement is back lighted with two bulbs mounted in a plastic fixture just behind the shutter panel. Later versions of this movement included a snooze alarm feature. Most movements had dimmers and all had a strange round alarm setting dial with a click detent. When working properly the movement had a beautiful fluid like motion when changing time. This movement was only produced for a couple years because real LED displays quickly became cheap to produce and quickly dominated the market by the late 1970s.
