Seth Thomas / Talley Industries mantle clock

by Debbie
(Greensburg, PA)

I have a Seth Thomas Mantle clock Cat# 9563 (9563-001)
Framingham with Westminster Chimes. The serial # is 112285. The mechanism has a number 450009 8413 stamped on it.

When winding the clock one day it did not work. I cannot turn the key and assume it is overwound. Do you have any idea what the cost would be to replace the mechanism?

Thank you.

We had ours serviced recently and this clock has always kept good time and functioned well.
It was valued at over $800
Nice surprise!

Hi Debbie,

The movement probably just needs service. Any mechanical clock will stop after years of old oil and dust build up in the pivot holes, and in the mainsprings.

I suggest having a clock repair person check it out for you. This service is less expensive than replacing the movement which could be $300 or more, depending on the movement.
