Pre-war Seth Thomas Mantle Clock?

I purchased this about 5 years ago for $2.50. What interested me about it was: 1. the aluminum top and bottom, 2. more traditional hardwood case and face, and 3. the movement is labeled "made in Germany" (not West Germany). I wondered if it was pre-war. It seems like a strange marriage of modern art deco, and more traditional styling. Any information would be a plus. I havent' seen anything like it in my searches.
