Gilbert Kitchen Clock
by: Bill

Hi, thank you for posting your clock.

Your clock is a Concord model Wm. L. Gilbert kitchen clock with alarm. Made in Winsted, CT circa 1900. The company started in 1828 as Marsh, Gilbert and Company and remained in the clock business for over 130 years. Operating under several different names, they were finally sold for $.5 million in 1964. You can find out more about the Gilbert Clock Company here.

If you were wondering why you have never heard of Winsted, CT, it's probably because it no longer exists. The town name was changed to Winchester.

In the most recent book I have (1998) that particular model was valued at around $600.00 in good, all original condition and running properly.

This is a higher price than most of their other kitchen clocks, so I would think that there were fewer of these made.

I hope this helps you. Please visit again!

Wm L Gilbert early manufactured clock
by: Niketa

Hello, I have this same clock with Wm L Gilbert on the back (Winsted, Co), but the date encarved on it is May 4 1710. It says Navy No. 28. Tell me what your thoughts on what it might be worth and what you think about this date.

PS I'm guessing Connecticut is abbreviated as "CO" because Colorado wasn't on the map, not sure.
