French honeymoon cuckoo

My parents bought a cuckoo on their honeymoon in the 1960's but I suspect that the clock was a bit older as it states made in Germany and more recent versions say made in West Germany.

I know very little about the clock and would love to learn more about it. All I could find on the clock was "Tiroler Holzhacker."
