Seth Thomas Column Clock
by: Bill

Hi Kristin,

I think the date stated for your clock is a little early for two reasons. First is that your label reads Seth Thomas, Thomaston, CT. Up until about 1863, the label would have the name Plymouth Hollow, Ct.

The town name was not changed until 1865, when it was changed from Plymouth Hollow to Thomaston in honor of Seth Thomas.

The other reason for the date being early is the case style - Rosewood Column with two pieces of glass. This style was made in the 1870 - 1890 time period as far as I can tell.

My guess is that your clock was made circa 1879 and is a Rosewood case with either a 30-hour or 8-day movement. The value is listed as $450.

Thank you very much for posting. I hope this helps.

thank you
