Can You Help Me Please?

I don't know anything about antique clocks and like most people from my age group I am being given this clock after my parents brought it back from Germany in the early 1960's.

It hung in our home for years as I was growing up and worked until it was stored in the attic in the early 1970's. I would like to know if there is anything unique about this clock, as my father says he has never seen a clock like this in all of his travels. I would also like to find out an approximate value.
