They were a very popular type clock for about 40 years starting around 1890. Most of the American clock companies made several models of this type.

My mother's clock looks just like this...I was trying to find the same thing and one more thing. Where would I go online to find out how much its worth? She doesn't want to sell it, just find out how much its worth. Very beautiful clock!
