Ansonia Mantle Clock

I just got this Ansonia mantel clock from my Grandpa and I am looking for some information (what is that animal on the side?).

I love this thing! I think it is beautiful and it works perfectly! I'm wanting to tell my Grandpa that I sold it for x amount, because that is all he is interested in.

I'm just happy to be the proud owner!
