A Pearce, Stratford grandfather clock in Alabama

by Mark
(Birmingham, Al, USA)

I inherited a grandfather clock and know very little about it other than it has Pearce,Stratford on the dial and that it is a 30 hour clock.

Numbers scratched on the inside of the timepiece are AS538 in numerous places. Also I have found the numbers N134 and 1465A. I have no idea what any of these mean. The cross banding appears to be mahogany and I think the rest is oak of some type.

The trunk door is warped at the top and bottom maybe as a result of the high humidity of the deep south. The pendulum bob has a man on a horse with a pike. I would really like to know more about it and what the wood should look like.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
